Clemens signs
Posted by Bobo Hilario | 7:03 pm | Astros | Comments: 0
My thoughts on the official news of Clemens signing with the Astros.
$22,000,022, thats almost 2 million per start, or 300,000 per inning, or 20,000 per pitch. Is it possible that he will earn them back that much money through TV ratings and ticket sales? Only if the Astros get paid every time ESPN shows Roger […]

A Week’s Worth of Predictions
Posted by Mike | 7:00 am | All things Central | Comments: 2
OK, so I’m going to be out on business again for a week, meaning the time I can devote to updating the site is going to be down to about zero. Since I’ll be gone until the 9th, I’m going to make some predictions on what will happen when I’m four time zones away:
Chicago Cubs- […]

Have you heard that Pujols is good?
Posted by Bobo Hilario | 10:06 am | Cardinals | Comments: 5
Albert Pujols is doing some amazing things with a wooden stick these days. It is hard to find something new to say about him. We all know that he is the best hitter in the game. Most people also know that he is a very good fielding first baseman, probably behing only Helton, Lee and […]

I found this through my girlfriend’s cousin’s website:
COURT RULING, Chicago Illinois, May 8, 2006
Chicago, Illinois (AP) - A seven year old boy was at the center of a Chicago courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents […]

The Albert Report
Posted by Mike | 7:00 am | Cardinals | Comments: 0
Albert Pujols didn’t hit a home run yesterday, and I’m terribly disappointed because of this fact. So are a lot of people, as there’s quite a bit of Albert love going around:
ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski (yes, I did cut and paste that) gives some insight into Pujols’ pre-game preparation.
There’s a video game called Backyard Baseball (clicky […]

Stating The Obvious

The Cubs are a bad team. One can deduce this from their record (18-26), their most recent loss (9-1 to the damn Florida Marlins), and their NL-worst offense (159 runs, a mere 5 better than the Kansas City Royals) combined with mediocre pitching.
In case you have trouble with the terribly obvious, though, Cub President Andy […]

Weekend Wrap
Posted by Mike | 7:00 am | All things Central | Comments: 2
Ten interesting items from this weekend in the NL Central:
10) After 44 games, Pittsburgh is 15 games out of first place. That almost seems like it should be some kind of record, but it’s not, and I don’t even have to check the history books: Kansas City is already 18 back after 41 games. Set […]

In Cub news, the North Side’s problems have been solved as Tony Womack was signed to a triple-A contract. Says Cub skipper Dusty Baker:
“He can play the outfield, he can pinch-hit, he can pinch-run. When we had him [in 2003], he was injured. We didn’t see the real Tony Womack. His arm was bad, and […]

Thursday Notebook
Posted by Mike | 7:00 am | General | Comments: 1
Mesmerized by the thought of an exciting NBA Finals this year (San Antonio and Detroit, however good they are, are boring as hell to watch), I was a bit distracted last night when trying to put together a post. Check out my notebook for today for some good readin’, though.
One thing that is drawing my […]

Division Notes

Lots of games, lots of news:
Whaaa? The Cubs actually shut out the Nationals last night 4-0, getting all sorts of breaks in the process. Carlos Zambrano threw 8 innings, struck out 8, and didn’t give up a run in a great pitching performance while the Cub lineup looked like a real baseball team for once. […]
